instrumental
Zombi – Breaktrough & Conquer
There is going to be a new album by one of the best instrumental synth rock bands.
The Lumberjack Feedback – Therapy?
French instrumental post-metal band which makes great use of two drummers. It’s not a gimmick. Check out one of their insane drum videos. “Therapy?” is a song from their new album Mere Mortals.
Glacier – O World! I Remain No Longer Here.
Instrumental post-metal/rock. Very cool live video. Check out the full album.
Russian Circles – Blood Year
The new album by Russian Circles. I think they are still one of the best instrumental post-metal bands around.
Earth – Full Upon Her Burning Lips
The new Earth album is out: Full Upon Her Burning Lips. I have been a fan since they reduced the drone and distortion to a minimum in mid 2000. Since then I’ve always thought that this instrumental slow hypnotic blend of rock and country jazz is the perfect music to drink tea by, or whisky if you prefer, and read a Barry Gifford novel. When I listen to Earth, I visualize American landscapes, especially deserts and swamps.
Orso – Mitraillette
Heavy sandwich eating with Orso.
Sloth & Turtle – Toys
Like the band name and song title, the video and music are appropriately quirky and playful. Sloth & Turtle play some kind of uplifting math and post-rock and even manage to fittingly incorporate a cello. Their EP is available on Bandcamp as a name-your-price download.
