Torres has released another sexy video and a new album.
Time to catch up on this intriguing indie artist.
indie
Joywave – Obsession
I was smiling throughout the whole video. For this video, Joywave created 65 fake movie titles and intro scenes, often just lasting a few seconds, inspired by 1980s B movies. At least since Tarantino’s Grindhouse the concept of faux movie trailers isn’t that new, but Obsession takes it to a new level firing off these short vignette-like scenes one after another. And the song is also pretty smooth.
Torres – Skim
This is a good example that it can be very effective to use the guitar sparingly.
And I find the video awkwardly sexy.
Moses Sumney – Rank & File
Powerful.
Crippled Black Phoenix – Great Escape Pt 1
Such an amazing band. Crippled Black Phoenix. This is the music video for Great Escape Pt 1 from their new album which was released two days ago and I highly recommend it.
Beatrice Deer – Fox
Beautiful animated video for the song Fox by Beatrice Deer telling an Inuit folktale. This is one those videos which exactly follows the lyrics.
Mass of the Fermenting Dregs – New Order
The Japanese Alt-Rock/Shoegaze band Mass of the Fermenting Dregs has released a new album. The first since 2010. Good to see that they are back.
Sloth & Turtle – Toys
Like the band name and song title, the video and music are appropriately quirky and playful. Sloth & Turtle play some kind of uplifting math and post-rock and even manage to fittingly incorporate a cello. Their EP is available on Bandcamp as a name-your-price download.
